WHEW!!! Summer is flying by at a high rate of speed. Where do I even begin.
Bella is doing WONDERFUL. She has started to let her little personality shine. She is such a happy little girl. Nothing but smiles unless she is hungry or tired.
We have been spending a lot of time at the pool. She loves the water. The new pool in Spring Hill is amazing for little kids. We go with some friends of ours that have 3 kids under the age of 7, so we always have lots of fun. Bella loves to lay in the innertube with us and ride on the lazy river. She just jabbers all the way around it. She has started eating solids, the dr. suggested we go full 3 meals a day since she is on the antibiotic and probiotic daily. She was having lots of tummy aches before we started the meals. So she gets cereal/fruit in the morning, veg. and fruit for lunch and cereal/fruit for dinner. She is lovin' it.
I was officially laid off in May. The company I worked for lost the contract. It has been taking over by a new company but they won't give us any word on job placement until the end of July to 1st of August. In the state of Kansas a bus driver or any school employee for that matter isn't allowed to draw unemployment if you have a job guarantee for the following fall. (Kansas is 1 of 4 states in the US that don't allow this). So by the company "closing the doors" we were able to draw for this summer. Nothing like getting paid and not working. LOL. So if they even give us a verbal agreement on a job we automatically lose the unemployment. If I do get hired back, the one great thing about the new company though, Bella will get to go with me on the bus. The old company had a policy that the drivers personal kids had to be at least 1 year of age to ride along. So I am pretty excited about that. Hopefully I will be able to keep my old route since I had both of my nieces on my bus, they will be able to entertain her. :-)
Our garden is in full bloom. We even have green beans almost ready to pick. One of the local church's here in town does a Harvester's food bank once a month that is open to the public. Sometimes they get an extra shipment in and usually that truck is amazingly full of goodies. Well 2 weekends ago they had an over abundance of apples and cherry tomatoes. We ended up with 4 bushels of apples and 100 lbs of tomatoes (that they would have to had throw away if no one took them). So on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday my mother-in-law and I put them up. We made spaghetti sauce, salsa, apple pie filling, apple butter and just peeled, cored and sliced apples for later use. Canning season hit us a little early. :0)
We don't have anything really planned for the summer. Bella and I just take it day by day. One day we sit at home doing nothing and the next day we are busier than ever. But there is no better way to do it.
